Residents concerned about the proposed widening of SC Highway 707 will have the chance to share those concerns at a public meeting. South Carolina Department of Transportation has scheduled the meeting for Thursday, August 7 from 4 pm to 7 pm at St. James High School located at 10800 Hwy. 707 in Murrells Inlet.
The proposed SC 707 expansion would extend from south Enterprise Road through to US 17 Bypass in Georgetown County.
The meeting will be a “drop in” format with displays for viewing. Citizens will not have the opportunity to give verbal comments at this time, but they will have the opportunity to provide written comments. SCDOT spokesperson says an official public hearing allowing verbal comments will be held at a later date.
SCDOT’s Hwy 707 project team is asking for input from local citizens with knowledge about history, culture and natural resources in the immediate vicinity of the project.
The project is funded by Horry County’s RIDE II Capitol Local Option Sales Tax program. For more information, call Mike Barbee of SCDOT at (803) 737-4034.
