Myrtle Beach Animal Control officers say someone threw a bag from a truck on Highway 501 Wednesday, and inside that bag were 11 two-week-old puppies.
Someone saw the brazen act, and called 911.
Now the puppies are in foster care, thanks to the Grand Strand Humane Society.
“This is unusual that we get 11 (at one time), but this is not unusual that we have to foster puppies,“ said Executive Director Peter Bine.
The dogs suffered no injuries from the actual act of abandonment, but Bine said they still require constant supervision, including feedings every two hours.
“The mother would give that attention, naturally,“ said Bine.
Bine says what is most remarkable about this case is that whomever is responsible for dumping the dogs could have saved them from possible death, and saved themselves from possible criminal charges.
“It’s a criminal act,“ he said. “They could have driven up here, walked in the front door with the puppies, and turned them over to us. That would have been a non-criminal act.“
If you would like to find out more about the puppies, or any animal up for adoption, or if you would like to donate money or supplies to the foster care effort, you can contact the Grand Strand Humane Society at (843) 448-9151.

Most vets can ‘abort’ unwanted puppies or kittens while the mother is pregnant. Although this is something I could never consider for my pets, it is an option. There are so many pets that need loving ‘forever’ homes. I wish that people would be responsible pet owners and have their pets spayed or neutered. It is not expensive. And if you adopt from a shelter, the shelters will give you a coupon to be applied toward the procedure. Anyone who would do this to innocent animals lacks a certain morality and reverence of life, human or animal. I hope that whomever saw this act occur also got a license tag. This breaks my heart to read. Poor dear puppies.

Just thought I would share some common knowledge for those of you who are lacking in this department. If you don’t want to deal with a pregnant animal, why not have the pet spayed or neutured?

I hope they catch the person who done this and put their sorry butts in jail - someone needs to tie them in a sack and toss them out of a truck! HORRIBLE JERK!
I wish these babies a speedy recovery and good homes!
