A shooting Friday morning in the parking lot of the Lowe’s store in North Myrtle Beach leaves a woman dead and her husband in critical condition with what police said is a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

North Myrtle Beach Police responded to the Lowe’s store at the 2nd Avenue North and Highway 17 Business intersection around 10:50 a.m.

The shooting killed 46-year-old Donna Parker of Longs, according to Horry County deputy coroner Tamara Willard.

Willard says the autopsy reveals that Parker was shot in the head and more information could not be released until officials at the Coroner’s Office speak with the Solicitor.

Police said witnessed saw a man approach Parker in the parking lot, while she was sitting inside a white Chevrolet truck.

Witnesses told police they heard a gunshot, then the man, Robert Parker who authorities said was the victim’s husband, shot himself.

Medics rushed the female Parker to the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where she died a short time later.

Rescue crews airlifted Robert Parker to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in critical condition, and as of this posting, Parker was alive and had undergone surgeries Friday, according to Willard.

News13 learned Donna Parker was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence on August 13 after Horry County Police said she physically assaulted her husband.

On Sept. 3, Robert Parker filed for a divorce, according to county court records.

The couple lives at a home on Grizzly Road in Little River, but neighbors told News13 Donna Parker moved out weeks ago after the couple started having trouble in their relationship.

Robert Parker was staying at the home and Donna Parker moved to the Longs area, according to neighbors.

The Parkers had two daughters, according to authorities.

Donna Parker owned and operated Top to Bottom Cleaners, a cleaning serviced licensed to do business in Horry County since 2003, according to county records.

The business license was valid and active as of this posting.

Unfortunately, Domestic Violence is not rare at all these days. What is so sad about stories like this is that there are so many more that are effected than just the victims. My condolence goes out to those hurting on both sides of the families.

Domestic Violence IS a very strange thing, however, there are often times when women who finally get the courage to stand up to their abuser after years of abuse is then charged with “Criminal Domestic Violence”. It is just a shame that people lose their lives due to acts such as this.

Domestic Violence is such a strange thing to explain. I know many women who are in prison for being locked in a house for years. and no one would call for her because she couldnt, she is doing time at Leath corr. here in SC, another who came into JRuben Long and because she was well known she got probation for some what the same thing killing her husband aftyer years of abuse, the girl killed on AB in front of CME church because she wanted to leave him, some say he had taken care of her and because she got a rebate from IRS and didnt share she should of been killed, give me a break.
