Myrtle Beach Police are on the lookout for a man who tried to rob a local gas station.  Police say it happened last night some time around 8:30 at the Scotchman convenience store on Highway 17 Business and 3rd Avenue South.  According to the police report, the suspect was unable to come away with any money.

It says the suspect made a purchase, and once the cash register opened, the suspect tried to come around the counter and take the money.  It then says the clerk quickly closed the drawer, attempted to hit an alarm, and at this point, the suspect pulled out a gun.  According to the report, no one was hurt.

The clerk who was involved describes the suspect as a 6’0, black male weighing about 250 pounds.  He told police he was wearing a dirty green tee shirt, long black pants and a white baseball cap.  The report says he was seen leaving in a silver Mitsubishi, with South Carolina tag number 494-WSW, heading west-bound on 3rd Avenue South.

Anyone with any information can call the Myrtle Beach police at 918-1382.
