Motorcyclist dies after crash in Myrtle Beach

Police say a motorcyclist is dead after the rider crashed with a car at the intersection of Robert Grissom Parkway and 21st Avenue North.

Sergeant John Bertang with the Myrtle Beach Police department says a motorcyclist is dead after a car collided with his motorcycle at the intersection of Robert Grissom Parkway and 21st Avenue North.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identifies the victim as 59-year old Clarence Thomas Potter of Kenansville, NC.
Bertang says Potter was coming from the south side of Robert Grissom Parkway and then attempted to turn east onto 21st Ave. N.
He then says that’s when Potter collided with a car coming from the north side of Robert Grissom Parkway.
Bertang says after the accident occured Potter was airlifted to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Coroner Edge says Potter died at the hospital some time around 2 a.m.
Police say the accident happened at about 8 p.m. They had to shut down all routes leading into the intersection in Myrtle Beach Saturday night.
Bertang says the crash remains under investigation.

I’m so sorry to hear that Mr. Potter died, I was at the scene. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
