Horry County detectives charged a Myrtle Beach woman with stealing more than $260,000 from her employer.
Detectives said 54-year-old Cheryl Kelso Stevens with obtaining property under false pretenses while she was employed with a small business in Horry County.
Investigators said between 2003 and 2008, Stevens stole more than $260,000 from her employer.
The business fired Stevens in 2008.
Horry County Police did not name the business in the arrest warrant.
Investigators said Stevens confessed to the theft in interviews with detectives.
Steven’s attorney, Bert Von Hermann, told the judge at her hearing Monday that Steven had no prior criminal record and that she cooperated with detectives from the beginning of the investigation.
A county judge set Steven’s bond at $25,000 at a hearing Monday.
As of this posting, Stevens remained jailed under bond.
