The Horry County Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has made a tentative identification on human remains found in a wooded area of West Johnston Road, outside Conway.

Christmas Eve, officers were called to West Johnston Road, after hunters came across the skeletal remains in a wooded area off the roadway. Detectives were later called to the scene, to begin the investigation.

According to a news release, investigators say the remains are that of an adult male, but are still awaiting results of dental tests to confirm his identity. Those tests should take about a week.
