LORIS – Three house fires in the same area in less that six hours are being treated as suspicious.
All the homes were vacant.
“There is evidence supporting that these fires were intentionally started, and that they are linked together,” Sgt. Robert Kegler, Horry County Police Department, said.
“Right now, there are detectives from the police department and investigators from the fire department are working together in the investigation of the cases,” Kegler, said.
Firefighters from Horry County Fire Rescue and Loris Fire Department responded to the three fires.
According to Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman Todd Cartner, the first fire broke out at 11:10 p.m. on Ol Maple Street near Loris.
The second fire happened around 1:45 a.m. on Three Curve Road, about 1.5 miles from the first fire. The abandoned home was destroyed.
Firefighters then responded to a third house fire in the same area near Highway 19 and Highway 701.
Kegler said anyone with information on the fires can call 915-5350 or 915-TIPS. After business hours of course, they can call into the dispatch center at 248-1520.
