County police investigate Socastee road rage incident

Three vehicles involved in a road rage incident in Socastee Thursday night sit in the parking lot of a Kangaroo station while police investigate what happened. Horry County Police arrested two men in the incident and a woman was taken to a hospital with injuries.

A road rage incident witnessed by a News13 crew ended with two people arrested and another taken to the hospital with injuries.
It happened on Socastee Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Thursday after three vehicles, a white Chevrolet van, a blue Chevrolet truck, and a black Chevrolet truck, pulled out of the Brandy Mills subdivision and onto Socastee Boulevard.
The blue truck slammed into the driver’s side of the white van while the three were stopped at the Brandy Mills entrance, then the trio sped north on Socastee Boulevard.
After a short chase a blue Chevrolet truck involved in the incident spun the van around in the middle of Socastee Boulevard.
All three vehicles continued north on Socastee Boulevard and pulled into the Kangaroo convenience store at the Highway 707 and Highway 17 Bypass intersection, where the driver of the blue truck, who police identified as 34-year-old Clinton Ray Daniels got out with a female passenger.
Daniels started yelling at the driver of the van as all three vehicles involved in the incident stopped at the store, then Daniels asked the store clerk to call for help.
Investigators identified the driver of the black Chevrolet truck as 31-year-old Jerry Wayne Pittman.
Myrtle Beach Police performed a field sobriety test on Pittman following the incident, then charged him with driving under the influence and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Pittman was booked into the Myrtle Beach jail.
Horry County Police arrested Daniels and took him to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center where police charged him with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Medics took the female passenger in the blue truck to a hospital with minor injuries, according to authorities.
Jerry Wayne Pittman: (31 YOA W/M) DOB: 07-03-77. He resides in the Myrtle Beach section of Horry County. He is currently in custody at the J. Rueben Long Detention Center.
