Group collecting supplies for Hurricane Ike victims

Christian Organized Relief Effort (CORE), is currently seeking supplies for an upcoming trip to assist Hurricane Ike victims near Galveston, Texas.
According to a press release, crews will be building a shower trailer in the IMAX overflow parking lot at Broadway at the Beach at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The shower trailer will serve homeowners and clean-up crews as they begin recovery efforts following Hurricane Ike. This shower trailer and collected supplies will be delivered to the Hurricane Ike victims and clean-up crews in Nassau Bay, along the Texas coast.
Items needed include Water (bottled, 1-gallon and 5-gallon sizes); Bleach (1-gallon size); toilet paper (cases preferred); canned food items; wheel barrows; floor scrapers; pry bars; screw drivers; box cutters; heavy duty rubber gloves; 2-gal or 3-gal spray pump canisters; and, gift cards to national chains, such as Wal-Mart, Lowes, Home Depot. Multiple items will be appreciated. NO clothing will be accepted for this trip.
Local residents are encouraged to drop off donated supplies at the shower trailer work site. The crew will be at the work site in the IMAX overflow parking lot at Broadway at the Beach through September 30.
Hours will be 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Monday-Tuesday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday. The IMAX overflow parking lot is located on the 21st Avenue North side of Broadway at the Beach.
