Conway police step up child safety seat enforcement

Conway Police will be stepping up enforcement on child safety seat use in the month of September.
According to a press release from the Conway Police Department, vehicle crashes remain the number one killer of children ages 3 – 14 in the United States.
Conway Police want you to ensure your child is properly secured.
If you have concerns or want the Conway Police to check your child’s safety seat, you can contact Sgt. Staples at 843-907-2092 or 843-248-1790.
Appointments will be set up on every Wednesday from 11am until 6pm. And there is no charge for this service.
The Traffic Team will be hosting a child safety seat check on Sept. 20 from 10am to 2pm at Wal-Mart in Conway.
The National Child Safety Passenger Week starts on September 21st and goes to the 27th.

If I am required to have safety restraints in my car for the safety of my children, why isn’t the county required to have them in restraints on our buses? Are buses immune to collision or rollovers or going off of bridges? Or does it just cost too much money?
