Atlantic Beach resident sues over Bikefest public drinking

ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (AP)—A resident of Atlantic Beach is suing the city, trying to end public drinking during the annual Bikefest motorcycle rally each May.
The lawsuit filed by Paul Curry before last month’s rally also seeks to stop the city from using golf carts during the rally and to ban a street party.
Curry’s attorney Jim Bain told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach eliminating public consumption of alcohol and the noise from the street party would address many of the concerns residents have about the rally.
Interim Town Manager Charles Williams plans to fight the lawsuit. He said the golf carts help police get around in heavy traffic.
Curry was charged June 2 with harassment after another resident said he took her picture without permission. Curry said the photos show the woman on a golf cart.
