Mary Lou Matthews of Lake City, 74, died in her residence.
A funeral was Tuesday, Dec. 23 in the Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed in the Lake City Memorial Park.

Born in Darlington County on Oct. 12, 1934, Mrs. Matthews was a daughter of the late Claude Leverne Anderson and the late Lula Mae Weatherford Anderson, and was a widow of the late Beland “Punch” Matthews.
She was a member of Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church, worked as a nursing assistant at Lake City Community Hospital and the Lake City Scranton Nursing Home, and was the owner and operator of her own day-care out of her home for about 20 years until her heath declined. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
Surviving a daughter, Cathy M. Gause (Lauren) of Kingstree; two sons, Jackie D. Matthews and Ricky Matthews (Lucille), both of Coward; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
