Local authorities are investigating a suspicious house fire.
The fire happened on May 14 at about 4 a.m. at 103 Samuel Street according to Lake City Police Captain, Bobby Williams.
Williams said Lake City firefighters and police officers arrived at the house that was fully engulfed, however no one was injured.
Lake City Fire Chief Tony Singletary said nobody was at home at the time of the fire and the house was a total loss.
On May 13, Williams said the owner of the home went to the house at about 7 p.m. and noticed the door was kicked in, however he didn’t report it to the authorities.
Singletary said the fire is now under investigation by Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
