Hartsville Police are looking for a suspect who attempted to rob a local drug store on Wednesday, Nov. 26, according to Police Chief Tim Kemp.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., a white male entered Rite-Aid, 844 S. 5th St, Hartsville, with his hand in his pocket and demanded all of the employees go to the storeroom in the back of the store, Kemp said.

The suspect attempted to break into the pharmacy but was unsuccessful, the chief said. He did not attempt to steal any money.

The employees were able to get out of the storeroom and witnessed the suspect run out of the store.

Hartsville Police brought dogs to attempt to follow the man’s trail, Kemp said, but the trail ended where Kemp believes the suspect either had a car or was picked up by another suspect.

The suspect is approximately 5’8” tall and weighs between 150-160 pounds.

Anyone with information on the event is asked to call the Hartsville Police Department at 383-3014.
