Elementary and junior high schools in Williamsburg County School District will offer the two academies in reading and math to help students in grades 3-8 improve their reading and math skills.
The Academy of Math and the Academy of Reading are researched-based computerized remediation programs that provide intervention necessary to help at-risk students achieve gains in reading, and computational fluency in math, according to a press release issued by the district.
Students who participate in the academies are selected based on their Measure of Academic Progress test results.
The programs were piloted at Kingstree Junior High School and Kingstree Elementary School last year.
