Local youth came together Sunday afternoon to help Midnight Rooster employee Sarah Plemons give her dad a father’s day gift like no other.
Her father, Dan Plemons, is a missionary stationed in Nicaragua, but due to rising food and gas prices, he is having a hard time funding his work. Dan has taught in Managua four years and now helps fund and build new schools for underprivileged children.
With Father’s Day looming, Sarah decided to organize a benefit concert to raise money, so her dad will be able to continue helping the children of Managua.
She called on local musicians Matrimony, MT, Meredith and Tyler Edwards and Justin Thompson to help in her endeavor. Jessie Avant, owner of the Midnight Rooster, volunteered the shop for the concert, and with some last minute promotion, Sarah organized the event “Rock for Nicaragua.“ On Sunday afternoon, a time when downtown Hartsville is typically quiet, the musicians rocked out, all in support of Dan and the work he does.
Sarah said the turnout was great, and she thanks everyone for his or her support and donations. If you would like to help Dan and his missionary work, donations are still being collected at the Midnight Rooster until July.
