Relay for Life is community driven! It is a great way for the community to work together in the fight against cancer. Lake City’s Relay for Life committee is a moving celebration
for cancer survivorship.
On Saturday, June 28 at 6 p.m. in the Blanding Street Auditorium Relay for Life celebrated by having a 2008 Survivor’s Beauty Pageant. The winners were Pauline Adams and Charles Gideon Green; 1st Runners-up were Antoinette Alston and Donald Cole and 2nd Runners-up were Mae Frances Brown and Betsy Graham.
“DeDe” Lowder was the speaker and entertainment provided by Wesley United Methodist Church Praise Team. and Miss Carine Brown. A special thank you to all who helped to support and contribute to this event, DeDe Lowder, Carlene Lowder, Deborah Burgess, Laura Hickson, Something Special and the Entertainment Committee Members, Bonnilyn Brown and LaKeishia Burgess.
In an effort to continue celebrating cancer survivorship, the American Cancer Society will host the Lower Florence County Survivor Dinner on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. in the
Lake City Senior Center, 198 N. Acline Street for you and your guest. Seating is limited so please respond by July 25 or earlier by calling (843) 213-0333. For information contact Jeanette Smiley at (843) 394-7464.
Relay for Life “Reach for the Stars” will be held at the Lake City High School on Friday, Oct 3 at 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct 4.
