CALDWELL MOSES
Funeral services for Sarah Ann Caldwell Moses were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at Antioch Baptist Church. Burial was in Darlington Memory Gardens directed by Young & Young Funeral Home of Hartsville.
Mrs. Moses, 55, died Sunday, Dec. 14, at McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was born in Bethune, a daughter of James and Eva Mae King Caldwell. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, a graduate of Hartsville High School and received an associate degree concentration in nursing from Florence-Darlington Technical College. Mrs. Moses was with The Carriage House for 20 years.
Surviving are her husband, Hubert H. Moses of Hartsville; one daughter, Jennifer Moses Kemp of Fort Hood, Texas; three sons, Garrett Moses of San Antonio, Texas, Kelvin Moses of Orlando, Fla., Christopher Moses of Florence and Hubert D. Moses of Hartsville; one grandson, Jaylen X. Kemp of Fort Hood, Texas; siblings, Willie L. (Shelby Jean) Caldwell, Willie J. Caldwell, Mary L. (Herbert) Prescott, Handy C. Caldwell and Linda S. (Lee Edward) Jackson, all of Hartsville, Betty R. Jackson, Dorothy L. (Robert) Little, Lillie L. (Bernard) Zimmerman, Brenda S. (Isaiah) Commander and Ronnie C. Caldwell, all of Bethune; nephews, Don Jackson, Larry L. Prescott, Travis Prescott, Lonnie Commander, Bryant Caldwell and Bryson Caldwell; and other close relatives and friends.

GRACE GIBSON
Funeral services for Grace Sparrow Gibson, 93, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at the Swift Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Horace Jackson and Peter Rivera officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Swift Creek Baptist Church, 413 N. Center Rd. Hartsville, SC 29550.
Mrs. Gibson, widow of W. D. “Bill” Gibson Sr., died Monday, Dec. 15. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late James Walter and Atha King Sparrow. She was a longtime member of Swift Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, W. D. “Billy” and Gladys Gibson of Newport, Tenn., Earl and Barbara Gibson of Hartsville; grandchildren, Chris Gibson, Mickey Gibson, Anthony Gibson, Terri Lynn Buttry, Deborah Mathis, Cynthia Brazell, Walter Gibson Jr., David Wills; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Wills; brother, James Sparrow; sister, Mary Ruth McInville.

EDITH SMITH
Funeral services for Edith Shrader Smith, 99, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Everette Price will officiate with burial in Charles T. French Sunset Memorial Park, Albuquerque, N.M. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to the Hartsville Interfaith Ministries, 210 Swift Creek Rd., Hartsville, SC 29550.
Mrs. Smith, widow of Lessie M. “Smitty” Smith, died Wednesday, Dec. 17. Born in West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Zelia Shrader. She was a resident of Morningside. Before moving to Hartsville, she was owner and manager of Smith’s Coffee Shop in Albuquerque, N.M.
Surviving are her nieces, Modene (Sam) Echerd of Hartsville, Toopie Martin of Hickory, N.C., Nan (Max) Eller of Newton, N.C.; nephews, Bill Terry of Connelly Springs, N.C., Jerry (Martha) Terry of Hickory, N.C.; special friend and caregiver, Ernestine Jackson.
