Jessica Nicole Malphus of Hartsville and Corey James Barefoot of Patrick were married on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge. The Rev. Buddy Amerson, grandfather of the groom, officiated at the ceremony. A reception was held at Prestwood Country Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Malphus of Hartsville. She is the granddaughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. Lamar Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Sonny Doughty and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Johnson of Hartsville.

The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Angela Barefoot of Hartsville and James Barefoot of Patrick.

He is the grandson the Rev. and Mrs. Buddy Amerson of McBee and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Barefoot of Patrick.

Music for the wedding was performed by Melodie Griffin, pianist and soloist, who sang, “I Know You’re There,” and Patrick Smith, uncle of the bride and guitarist and soloist, who sang “Have I Told You Lately.” The bridegroom surprised the bride during the lighting of the unity candle by singing to her “To Make You Feel My Love.”

The memory candle was lit honoring the Rev. and Mrs. J. Lamar Smith by Annie Cassidy and Thelma Haire.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless, corseted gown that was heavily beaded throughout the bodice and flowed from the A-line waist into a cathedral-length train bordered by crystals. She carried a bouquet of blood roses and hydrangeas.

The bridal attendants wore full-length gowns alternating colors of apple and black with a cream satin sash. They carried varied roses and hydrangeas.
Matrons of honor were Tiffany Besch, sister of the bride, of Hartsville, and Jennifer Haire, sister-in-law of the bride, of Hartsville.

Bridesmaids were Crystal Thompkins of Effingham, Morgan Foreman of Columbia, Jacqueline Smith of Pelion, Sydney Teal of Patrick, Jessica Amerson of Patrick, Alisha Flowers of McBee and Kelsey Amerson of Patrick.

Flower girl was Haley Barefoot, cousin of the groom of Patrick.

Ring bearer was Ben Owens Haire, nephew of the bride, of Timmonsville. Brett Michael Vaughn was acolyte.

Best men were Casey Barefoot, brother of the groom, and James barefoot, father of the groom, both of Patrick.

Groomsmen were Jamie Hopkins of McBee, Owens Haire, brother of the bride, of Timmonsville; Ricky Besch of Hartsville; Perry Barefoot of Patrick; Daniel Jamison of Indian Land and Daniel Andrews of McBee.

Greeters were Geri Allen, Dalen Anderson and Kristen Anderson.

The bride is a graduate of Coker College with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and psychology. She is employed with Sonoco in the Information Technology Department.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Coker College with a Bachelor of Arts in communications. He is employed with Monster Inc. of Florence as a customer service representative.

After a honeymoon to Riviera Maya, the couple will reside in Hartsville.
