The government has approved a test that can detect many so-called “superbugs” in less an hour. MRSA is included in the list of “superbugs.“
The test may also help doctors quickly determine which anti-biotic would be most effective in treating the resistant infection.
On average, patients stay in the hospital an additional 18 days following a MRSA infection, and nearly 20,000 die every year.
