Mr. and Mrs. Andy Walker Thompson of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Beth Thompson, to Brett Anthony Watts, son of Mrs. Patricia Watts of Chardon, Ohio, and the late Mr. Carl Watts.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gray and the late Mr. and Mrs. Andy Walker Thompson Sr.
She is a graduate of Francis Marion University with a degree in finance. She is manager of tax compliance for ESAB Welding and Cutting Products of Florence.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Urbanek, and the late Mr. Maynard Watts and the late Mrs. Irene Priebe.
He is a graduate of the University of Dayton in Ohio and is product manager for Steel Industry Products at ESAB.
The wedding will be Oct. 18, 2008, at Central United Methodist Church in Florence.
