Mr. and Mrs. James Edward Gainey of Hartsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Lynn Gainey, to Christopher Stephen Ham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen D. Ham of Columbia.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Eastside Christian Academy. The groom-elect is a graduate of Spring Valley High School and the University of South Carolina. He is employed with W. P. Law.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Jane Gainey and the late Jessie “Buddy” Gainey of Hartsville and Gladys Gainey of Patrick and James Calvin “J.C.” Gainey of Hartsville.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carson Allison Ham Sr. of Camden and Mrs. Margaret Mertz and the late Roy F. Mertz of Camden.
The wedding is planned for Oct. 11, 2008, at Piney Plain Freewill Baptist Church, Hartsville.
