Aurelia Lavette Cooper and Michael Levern Burgess were united in marriage June 28, 2008, at Jeremiah United Methodist Church of Hemingway. The Rev. Geneva Stafford officiated.
The bride, given in marriage by her father and mother, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cooper of Hemingway. She is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is assistant director at the Darlington County Institute of Technology.
The groom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Robert Burgess of Hemingway. He is the grandson of Mrs. Rosa Lee Davis of Hemingway. He is a graduate of Limestone College and Southern Wesleyan University. He is a technical sergeant at McEntire Air National Guard Base in Hopkins.
The scripture was read by the Rev. Samuel Burgess, and an additional prayer was provided by the Rev. William S. James.
Music was provided by Mr. Dozier Montgomery, organist; Mr. Avery Cooper, trumpeter; and Angela Jefferson and Rhonda Robinson, vocalists.
Carla Angus directed the wedding.
Matron of honor was Crystal Snider, cousin of the bride.
Maid of honor was Michelline Cooper.
Bridesmaids were Tonya Burgess, Arleen Glover, sister of the groom, Ingrid Graham and Rhonda Robinson.
Best men were Lester Burgess, brother of the groom, and James Jefferson.
Groomsmen were Eddie Burgess and Robert Burgess Jr., brothers of the groom; Adrian Cooper, brother of the bride; and Calvin Davis.
Miniature bride was Angelica Cooper, niece of the bride.
Miniature groom was Joshua Jefferson, cousin of the bride.
Darielle Hamlin, cousin of the bride, served as miniature bridesmaid.
Flower girls were Aviayna James and Ja’Niya Gregg, cousins of the bride.
Adrian Cooper II, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.
A reception followed in the Family Life Center as St. James Baptist Church in Johnsonville.
After wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple will live in
Florence.
