19 cable channels saved in late deal
A last-minute deal announced early this morning will keep “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “The Daily Show” and other favorites on Time Warner Cable in Charlotte. The company said it has reached a deal with Viacom Inc. on fees, avoiding a blackout of 19 cable channels including MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.

‘Colbert,‘ ‘SpongeBob’ may go dark on Time Warner
“SpongeBob SquarePants” may be getting squeezed off of Time Warner Cable. Media giant Viacom Inc. said its Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and 16 other channels will go dark on Time Warner Cable Inc. at 12:01 a.m. Thursday if a new carriage fee deal is not agreed upon by then.

Life’s a beach at Inlet eatery
The dog days of December – when you’re mindlessly juggling shopping lists, greeting cards, holiday get-togethers, decorating duties and cookie baking – somehow seem milder during milder weather. Like on our lunch date at K-Rae’s Beach House in Murrells Inlet, where we were able to hide from our holiday horrors for about an hour on a sunny 70-degree day.
