No motorcycle? No problem. The AVM Industries Poker Run fifth annual “Ride for Life” Poker Run, this year based at the Carolina Entertainment Complex, has added a special feature for non-bikers who would like to support the Poker Run, cancer research and the Marion County Relay for Life.
“We have chartered buses to take 57 folks around so they can get their cards,” John Gallo, a managing partner at the Complex, said. The fee to participate is still $20 per person, he said. The Poker Run is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s Marion County Relay for Life. Participants ride to five locations, drawing a poker card at each. The individual or team with the best hand wins a grand price of $1,500.
The Poker Run begins at 9 a.m. with registration at the Carolina Entertainment Complex and ends at the complex. Included with the registration fee is a barbecue chicken dinner, served with baked beans, slaw, bread and a drink as well as a performance by local band Sideswiped after the Poker Run at 7:30 p.m.
Camping at the complex site will be available.
