Four Pee Dee projects slated to get CDBG funding

Four Community Development Block Grant project applications from the Pee Dee have been selected to receive funding, the S.C. Department of Commerce announced Monday. Darlington will receive funds for its water line ppgrade phase IV and Bennettsville will receive funds for its sewer line and pump station upgrade phase II. Kingstree will get funds for its sewer upgrade phase II on Lexington Avenue, and Turbeville will get funds for Village Square street improvements.

SCDOT Commission approves contract with Florence company

The S.C. Department of Transportation Commission approved a bridge replacement contract with Florence Concrete Products Inc. of Florence on Thursday, allowing 25 laid-off employees to return to their jobs.

Domtar to reopen Maine pulp mill, reinstate 300 employees

North American forestry firm Domtar Corp (UFS.TO) (UFS.N) said it would call back about 300 employees as it plans to reopen its Woodland pulp mill, sending its shares up as much as 9 percent.

Carolina Filters Inc. will expand its operations in Sumter County with an $3 million investment that’s expected to create up to 20 jobs in the next five years.
