GEORGETOWN – An estimated 1,000 people turned out for the Tara Hall Home for Boys' Second Annual Paddle Fest in Georgetown Saturday to enjoy kayaking, live music and food, and plenty of splashing.

The event featured a five-mile kayaking and canoeing expedition down Black Mingo Creek before the highly-anticipated “National Kids Barrel Race,” formerly known as the “Redneck Barrel Race.” Altman Brewer of Johnsonville and Morgan from Tara Hall were the champions of the barrel race. The home does not release last names of residents.
