HEMINGWAY, S.C. – A man was airlifted via medical helicopter Thursday afternoon after his hand was caught in a corn picking machine on Old Pee Dee Road.

The Life Net helicopter landed at Williams Hill Baptist Church near Hemingway. Witnesses at the scene told The Weekly Observer the man had gotten down from the tractor to fix the machine which was apparently jammed. He, along with other men, were picking deer corn.
