- Med ‘school’ timeline
The study commissioned by the Pee Dee Health Education Partnership highlights several facts about the proposed facility. Here are some of the highlights:
* 18 months for accreditation from Liaison Community on Medical Education (LCME) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission (SACSCOC) must conclude by summer 2014.
* If accreditation is granted, 12 third-year medical students would be the first to enter the program for 2014-15 academic year.
* The next year, 16 new third-year students would be added. Incoming classes would add four more students each year until the program reaches 30 third-year students and 24 fourth-year students by 2020.

FLORENCE — A regional medical campus that could transform the Pee Dee is within the community’s grasp. And like the patients they see on a daily basis, the life of that program lies in the hands of Florence physicians.
Roughly 70 of those medical practitioners had a chance to learn more and ask questions about the program that would bring third- and fourth-year medical students to Florence as soon as summer 2014 during a presentation at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night.
