FLORENCE, S.C. — Gov. Nikki Haley told the media on Wednesday that the state agencies ready for the severe winter weather that moved through the state this week thanks to training, preparation and applying lessons from the past — something leaders in Florence County did as well.

After watching National Guard crews clean up debris Friday in Aiken and Walterboro, Haley said in a Facebook post that devastation from the storm was on the same level or worse than Hurricane Hugo in 1989.
