FLORENCE, S.C. -- The quickening pace of Florence downtown development prompts the local League of Women Voters to place Downtown Development, Phase II, at the top of its 2013 agenda.
On Monday, Jan. 28, the League will hold a meeting for members and guests beginning 5:30 p.m. at the Art Trail Gallery, 185 W. Evans St. Allene Galpion-Tellis, Development Coordinator for City of Florence Downtown Development, will be the League’s guest speaker.
Raised in Plaquemines Parish, La., Galpion-Tellis learned Creole French and Spanish early in life. Later, with her military family she traveled broadly, including Southeast and Southwest United States, as well as much of Europe, Asia and Central America.
Galpion-Tellis is a magna cum laude graduate of Coker College where she majored in business administration. She received her master’s degree in supply chain management from the University of Texas in 2011.
Since joining the City of Florence Downtown Development office last year as development coordinator, Galpion-Tellis has managed downtown events, building projects and revitalization efforts. Previously she worked as plant coordinator at Illinois Tool Works (ITW) and helped establish Harris Recycling Services Inc. for industrial and distribution clients in all aspects of post consumer recycling.
