JOHNSONVILLE- Morgan Helms was crowned South Carolina National Miss this past March. Helms graduated with honors from Johnsonville High School in 2005 and is the daughter of Cheri Helms Bolyn and Bob Helms. Several titles that Morgan has held include Miss Gold and Black, Miss Florence Teen, first runner up to Miss South Carolina Teen 2005 and Miss Florence. She was also named Miss College of Charleston, where she recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Morgan will pursue a medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and will be traveling to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in America’s National Miss Pageant, July 28th- Aug 3rd. “Everyone is so excited for Morgan and they wish her well,” her mom, Cheri, said. “All the children at Cheri and Company are signing little signs to send with her.” Morgan is usually studying or working, but when she does find a spare moment, she enjoys horseback riding and dancing, performing as a soloist for The South Carolina Ballet Theatre for several years. She also danced with Cheri and Company in Johnsonville. Recently, Helms has acquired and Old English Bull dog puppy named Cooper and has her hands full. “I don’t think Cooper will be able to travel to Nashville with us,” laughed her mom, “but, he is not short on people wanting to puppy sit.”
